Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five is a five-a-side tournament created by the Brazilian professional footballer and the energy drink brand. Played in countries on six continents, it unites fans in games of five-a-side football for the chance to win tickets to the World Cup Final in Brazil. The client hired DASH to create creative packaging design to advertise the final five-a-side tournament in Hong Kong. The deliverables included print design and print production, packaging design and creative direction.

Challenge.

In order to boost awareness of the five-a-side competition and generate interest, the client wanted to create a special package containing limited-edition Red Bull and details about the tournament. The client’s current packaging was a paper box with a key visual as the cover. As the package was to be sent to media, influencers and friends of the event, the aim was to heighten its visual appeal to increase the excitement for the event. DASH still needed to use the event’s official key visual, but deliver a design with a more unique and interesting approach.

Creative Design &Direction.

The creative concept built upon familiar elements from a football match. DASH designed the shape of the packaging to be rectangular, representing a locker in the changing room, inspiring the receiver to get ready for the tournament. Inside, the packaging brought the football pitch to life through a grass-like material with special inserts for the limited-edition Red Bull cans. Upon opening the box, the recipient is immediately greeted with the spirit of football and the prominent placement of the Red Bull cans promotes the product and creates a connection between the energy drink, sport and competition.
